Wilderness Camps (Boys/Girls Ages 13-17)

This camp is designed for those who love outdoor adventure and camping. Campers will spend five days canoeing the Current River located in Central Missouri among the foothills of the Ozark Mountains. All items needed for each camper for the week will be carried in the canoes. This is an extremely popular camp and will fill up quickly, so get your application in early. If you have any more questions please feel free to email or call us. *Note: All campers must be able to pass a swim test before heading out on the river.

Camp at THRBC can be physically demanding, and some campers may be unable to participate in all activities. If the Camp Manager determines a camper in unable to participate safely in camp/activities, he may request that the camper be picked up early from THRBC.

Please note: Due to the nature of our wilderness camps, campers must return to THRBC property before being picked up, except in the case of an emergency.

Timing: Check-in and Check-out

Check-in is between 2:00 – 4:30 pm on Sunday.
Departure is on Friday afternoon between 3:00-4:30 pm (unless otherwise noted). Parent or guardian picking up camper must be listed on  camper registration and show Photo I.D. Parent or guardian can designate a different person picking up camper at Check-in.

The campers will need to prepare themselves for this camp by bringing some items that will make their trip more comfortable and meaningful. Campers will arrive at camp on Sunday. What should I bring? Click here for a printout.

Everything else you will need is provided by the camp: canoes, paddles, PFD’s, food, cooking gear, etc…. However, if you have a self-supporting tent I would recommend that you bring it as an option to the camp tents. Self-supporting dome tents are much easier to use under the conditions we find on the river.

THRBC Medical Care Guidelines

PLEASE HAVE CAMPER MEDICINE FILLED OUT ONLINE AND BRING ALL CAMPER MEDICATIONS TO CHECK-IN TO GIVE TO THE NURSE. BRING IN THE ORIGINAL PRESCRIPTION BOTTLE/PACKAGE FOR IDENTIFICATION OF ALL MEDICATION. ONLY BRING WHAT YOUR CAMPER NEEDS FOR THE WEEK. All medications, including over-the-counter (non-prescription) medications, will be turned in to the nurse, and she will advise the wilderness staff leaders for administration of medications. Wilderness brings a first-aid kit with them that is stocked with some over-the-counter medication. Any time a camper requires medical care beyond what can be provided, the parent/guardian will be contacted for notification, consent, and the gathering of the camper’s medical insurance information.
